En boca predomina el dulzor. May 29, JonnoWillsteed from England 3. S- Quite mild, some rich malt. It has Belgian yeasty ester notes and hints of spice too. I like the balance of rich but not sweet! O- Very drinkable. Mar 31, Cramshawbar from Canada ON 3. The nose is Dupont moinette brune expected in this style, with some caramel and Dupont moinette brune, but also a bit metallic.
This foreshadowed the metallic taste within and indeed, it is strong. Also watery and with a surprisingly bitter aftertaste. The plum comes through at least. Not the best in this style by a far shot. Jan 17, Snowcrash from Germany 3. Smells of sweet, rich caramel malt, toffee, brown sugar and strong notes of dark fruit; raisin, fig, date, with just a hint of estery spice: clove.
Taste is a great balance of caramel malt, toffee, brown sugar, dark fruits: raisin, fig, date and spicey yeast ester of clove, as well as just a hint of herbal hops coming through as well. Finishes bittersweet, with a light bitterness and some caramel malt, toffee and dark fruits lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation. Quite a niceexample of the style all in all.
Aroma is of caramel, tofee, prunes, raisins, dates and brown sugar. The taste is sweet and fruity with strong roasted tones in the back. Good notes of dried fruits and caramel. The finish has a slight bitterness that is balanced very good with the malts in the back, and has a good lenght on the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel is creamy and smooth with a medium carbonation and medium body. A very good beer, and a great example of it,s style. Aug 03, TheBierdimpfe from Canada QC 4. Creamy brown finger head, lasting around 10 minutes, with not much legs but good lacing and a decent swirl reaction. Flavors of Dupont moinette brune, brown sugar, caramel, wild berries, cherries, roasted grains, Belgian yeast, coriander, ginger, and herbal hops. Slick and silky medium body with prickly and crispy carbonation.
Strong strength finish, malty and bready, thick esters and spices, a bit leafy with sharp yeast, lightly sour from the aging process thats far from excessive. Moderately alcoholic. Pleasantly spiced and yeasty, including a hint of barrel aged feel of cheese. Fits well in winter time celebrations having of festive qualities. Decent freshness and bodied. Highly warming, could easily be used as an appetizer, it's salivating with sugars.
Complex and really well made. Aged well in the bottle. Overall excellent quality craft. Aug 17, Dzu from Russian Federation 4. L: Turbid dark brown with a weak white foam head. S: Plums, black berries, red wine. T: Spices, orange, raisin. F: Tight body and low carbonation.
O: Very good dark ale with unusual taste. Mar 25, Ciocanelu from Romania 3. Aroma has dark malts, brown sugar and molasses. Taste starts yeasty with dark malts, just a hint of sugar sweetness and some dried fruits. Finishes quite bitter and earthy. Medium body and carbonation, well hidden ABV. Overall it's a nice belgian dark ale. Although I am not a fan of this style, I enjoyed this one. Apr 29, Beginner2 from Illinois 4. What makes this different than the competition? It has the complex flavors of a quad, but not the alcohol.
Which means I'd like two. Belgian yeasts working the barley to create fruits is done well So if you find Moinette Bruin, buy it and figure it out yourself. Mar 16, It is mostly clear, the head is off white and takes a white to disappear. Smell: There are aromas of plums, apples, toast, cherries, and a bit of rose. Taste: It has flavors of toast and Dupont moinette brune with raisins, apple, and plums. Feel: It has a medium feel and has moderate carbonation. It has a dry finish with a touch of tart. Overall: It is a strong malty and fruity Belgian ale that feature plums and raisins with a quality malt backbone.
Andrewharemza from Australia 4. Aroma sweet, caramel, candy, cinnamon, soaked raisins, brown sugar. Tastes pretty much as the aroma. Very nice. Dec 29, Only had Dupont's Saison to date, but I loved that, so figured this was worth the price. A: Pours a reddish brown color that just glows in the glass. An absolute monster of a head that pours foamy and tan and rises up to about 5 fingers in the glass. Takes a long time to settle. S: I'm really liking the smell here, but it's really, really faint, even after letting it warm a bit.
Dusty yeast and chalky malt, baked pear, cinnamon, spearmint and maybe a hint of red apple. T: Kind of a strange beer. Some good flavors going on here, but they're very disted and the mouthfeel is Christian Bale in The Machinist- thin. Sort of a strange, sweet wet malt flavor upfront with some light cocoa powder, mushy apple and maybe some molasses on the finish.
Might be a bit of apple pie spice and dry yeast on the finish. Finish is dry and a little chalky. Ok and definitely worth the price I paid but not sure I'd rush back to this one. Oct 28, Color is vibrant amber, bordering on dark orange. Silky skin of a head. Taste of dried fruits, citrus and caramel. Smooth for its high ABV. Subtle, yet complex.Dupont moinette brune
